5.2 SHOWS

5.2.1. Applications for Second Championship Show

5.2.1.1 Klun French Bulldog Club – 08.04.2023

The above Club is requesting to hold a second Championship Show on 08.04.2023, along with their usual Championship Show. This was approved for their 2022 shows.

Motivation: The Club wishes to boost its financial situation in order to procure the services of an International Judge in future .

Approved.

5.2.1.2 Uitenhage Kennel Club – 31.03.2023

The above club is requesting to hold second Championship Show on 31.03.2023, on the same day as its Show 1. This was approved for the 2022 PE weekend, and is part of an agreement between the Port Elizabeth Clubs that one All-breeds Club has a second Championship Show over the weekend, on a rotational basis.

Motivation: The organisers of the PE weekend wish to keep the weekend filled with events in order to attract out-of-town exhibitors. They feel that if they do not have a large enough cluster of shows, exhibitors will not enter, and the PE Clubs will suffer.

Approved.

5.2.2 Entry in contravention of the Regulations:

Jabbari Red Velvet (ZA009224B18) Boston Terrier

Upon receipt of the Champion application for the above-mentioned bitch, the office noted that the dog was entered in the name of the breeder instead of the registered owner. This is in contravention to Schedule 3, Regulation 7.1.1:

7.1.1 When an entry is submitted to a show holding club, a dog shall be solely and unconditionally the property of the Exhibitor and at the time of exhibition it shall be registered in the Exhibitor’s name at the Kennel Union, or at a registry formally recognised by the Kennel Union in a written agreement.

According to the owner she had posted the transfer application to the office in mid to late 2018 but this document did not reach the office and the transfer was not processed. The owner entered the shows not realising that the dog was not registered in her name and is appealing to Exco for leniency on the above regulation having only just become aware of the problem.

Confirmation to be requested from breeder that transfer was signed and permission was granted to transfer ownership.

10. GENERAL

10.1 Online Open Show Entries

The various Dogsport entries, e.g. Agility and Dog Jumping entries are now being done online, there a few reasons for this:

  • Agility and Dog Jumping are responsible for their own entries and the details
  • Handlers can’t enter unless they have paid for their entry
  • The payment goes into the Licence-holding Clubs’ banking account
  • The draw is completed before the show on line as well saving a tremendous amount of time at the show

When you have Obedience, Carting and Rally Dog these entries are included in the Agility section of the Schedule. At a NAPC meeting, a matter was raised that the Schedules are stating ONLINE ENTRIES ONLY as per the attached, which was just an Agility Schedule, This is apparently on the Pretoria Kennel Club Schedule as well. The objection is that the Ch Show Schedule does not allow for this.

NdP is already looking into the legalities of the Ch Show online entries. The Executive Committee’s input is required on the above matter. ( TKC Open Show Schedule attached for reference)

After discussion, MA advised that the Schedule should allow for both online and manual entries and suggested the wording be changed to online entries preferred/available. NS advised that the online application is a very easy procedure and that those competing in dogsport need to be educated on the online entry procedure.

10.2 TEO Forms

MA advised that he would liaise with Mr Kevin Young who was tasked by DOGSPC to identify any potential problems with the TEO forms.

11. DATE OF NEXT MEETING
