The Cape Field Trial Club
was affiliated to KUSA in May 1993 and
runs two Retriever Trials a year, one of
which is held under the auspices of The
Kennel Association. Normally our
Trials are both held in September,
on farms in the beautiful
Botrivier area, just north of Hermanus.
We are running a third trial in 2022 for
the first time in May and hope to
continue in the future.
In addition to its Retriever activities,
the Club has an active HPR section which
holds its annual Trial near Greyton
during May and has recently added
Versatile Tests.
Since the inception of CFTC, we
have hosted two National Retriever
Championships.
As well as KUSA-licenced Trials
the CFTC offers training sessions and
informal Tests during the late summer
and early winter, held near Somerset
West/Stellenbosch and Botrivier, and a
number of “fun” events during the year.
All members of CFTC receive
a Newsletter every two months and the
Club’s website, at
www.cftc.org.za, contains schedules of
upcoming events, useful information for
dog owners and a delightful picture
gallery with hundreds of shots taken by
both amateur and professional
photographers.
