5.2 SHOWS
5.2.1. Applications for Second Championship Show
5.2.1.1 Free State Kennel Club – 30 October 2022
The above Club is requesting to hold a second Championship Show on the weekend of 30 October 2022 alongside their first Championship show on 29 October 2022 in the Free State.
Motivation: To facilitate the appointment of four overseas Judges – full motivation attached.
Approved.
5.2.1.2 Highway Agility Club – 30 July 2022
The above Club is requesting to hold a second Championship Show on 30 July 2022 to form a joint weekend with the Dobermann Club of KZN (31 July 2022).
Motivation: If we have our show on the 30 July 2022, it will help us to get a bigger entry for the whole weekend, as we have the show the next day with Dobermann Club. We will attract some of the handlers from up country with a double show on the weekend.

5.2.2 Application for additional Non-Championship Shows
Schedule 4:
2.3 No Club shall be permitted to hold more than two (2) Non-Championship Shows in any one calendar year, unless dispensation is granted by the Executive Committee
KZN Dog Athletics Association
The above Club is requesting to hold up to four Open (Non-Champ) Agility Shows in 2022.
Motivation: We request that the Club be granted permission to have the additional shows this year on the dates already approved by KUSA. The KZN Agility handlers are always keen to compete in as many shows as possible and attendance is always good at the shows. Also, that those weeks/days be retained for Agility/Dog Jumping shows for 2023, we will endeavour to source borrowed licenses from other KZN Clubs in future.

5.2.3 Show License Applications - Reinstatement of Pre-Show Penalties
Schedule 3:
2. Every application for a license to hold a Championship Show shall be made not less than six (6) calendar months for Shows held from 1 January 2003 before the proposed date, on an official Kennel Union form, signed on behalf of the applicant Club by the Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary, who shall give their full addresses, setting out the information required therein, and such application shall be accompanied by the draft schedule of the Show, a letter of acceptance from each prospective Judge and the fee prescribed in terms of Schedule 7.

2. 2.1 Every application for a license to hold a Non-Championship Show or Match Meeting shall be made not less than three (3) calendar months before the proposed date, on an official Kennel Union form, signed on behalf of the applicant by the Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary, who shall give their full addresses, setting out the information required therein, and such application shall be accompanied by a draft schedule of the show, signed contracts from each prospective Judge and the fee prescribed in terms of Schedule 7.
Due to Covid-19, dispensation was granted to waive the show application timeframes over the past two years. Currently there are still no set times for Clubs to lodge their show paperwork at KUSA, so most Clubs are waiting until the last minute to submit documents, or the documents are coming in, in dribs and drabs. This puts the Shows Department under pressure, as a lot of applications become urgent as they come in, leaving little time for other tasks to be completed. Club Secretaries are becoming complacent when it comes to the submission of documents.
We feel that we should reinstate some sort of timeframe by which Clubs need to apply for Shows. A suggestion of 3 months may be appropriate for the remainder of the 2022 Shows, followed by the reinstatement of the Schedule 3 and 4 Regulations in 2023.

5.2.5.2 Temporary Exclusion Order – Australian Shepherds - Noordbrooke Teddy Delux of Talliya Reg No ZA037335B14 and Rosesky Golden Light of Zavieduchien Reg No ZA003080B19 – following an incident at the Kennel Association Championship Show on 26.02.2022 at which was reported that a fight broke out between the two exhibits .

5.2.5.3 Temporary Exclusion Order – Australian Cattle Dog - Dragonstones Haplestichanthus Ice Reg No ZA007639B21 – following an incident at the Kennel Association Championship Show on 26.02.2022 at which it was reported that the exhibit behaved aggressively by biting an exhibitor on the leg.

5.2.5.4 Temporary Exclusion Order – Rhodesian Ridgeback – Kleinvalley Stalin – Reg No. ZA002674B20 – following an incident at the Whale Coast Kennel Club Championship Show on 05.03.2022 at which it was reported that the exhibit behaved aggressively by attacking another exhibit - Noordbrook The Red Racer, Reg No ZA037332B14. The injured exhibit required medical attention from the Vet on call.

5.2.8 KUSA Classic 2023
We are 13 months away from the KUSA Classic in 2023 and as yet we are not aware of any Province stepping forward to make application to host the shows in 2023.
Until such time as a Provincial Council comes forward, Exco to consider the appointment of Judges for 2023.
Exco considered the report submitted by the 2022 KUSA Classic Consultancy Team (KCCT) and thought it appropriated for the Chairman to seek further clarity from the KCCT on the way forward. The matter was deferred to Exco 04-2022.

3.5. Between two Championship and Qualifying Shows in any province: a period of 3 months must pass between judging the same Breed, Group or Group Final.
Dispensation was requested for Mr J de Abreu Marques to officiate at the Whale Coast Kennel Club Championship Show on 5 March 2022, judging the Working group, as well as at the Bellville GSD Club Qualifying show, awarding GSD gradings on 27 March 2022.
Motivation: Due to an error in the KUSA Office, both clubs were issued with licenses, The judging appointments in fact do not conflict, as CCs and show awards would be awarded at the All-breeds Club and only gradings awarded at the Specialist Club show.

5.12.1 Dispensation requested for Agility Learner Judges.
The wording regarding the time required to be active in the sport of Agility in the Schedule 5L is technically misleading, and the National Sub-Committee will rectify it at the next Fedco meeting (as housekeeping). In the meantime, some Judge Applicants are not able to begin their learner appointments due to this technicality.
The NAgSC has agreed the following already:
That our rule change request will include dropping the word “Calendar Year” as a reference of time and replace it with “Year” – as it can vary anywhere between 12 months, and 23 months in length for no logical reason.
The National Sub-Committee requests that they apply this ruling with immediate effect as it will allow a number of Learner Judges that have already completed their exams to begin their Agility careers during 2022, instead of 2023.

Email received from the Chairman of DOGSPC, regarding a proposed name change of the Golden Retriever Club of Transvaal to The Golden Retriever Club.
After discussion it was established that, as there exists a Golden Retriever Club of KZN, this proposed name change may not be possible. KUSA Office to inform the Chairman of DOGSPC and await feedback.

The Club has expressed interest in adopting the new-generation constitution and has been supplied with the information sheet to complete (8 March 2022).
CPA reported that the Chairman of DOGSPC had written to Neil Perkins Chairman of the Rottweiler Breed Council to enquire whether the Breed Council approved of the new Constitution drafted for Rottweiler Specialist Clubs.

9.4.1 Invalid Litter gap (Less than 5 months)
When application was first submitted with accompanying Vet Report, the following was sent to the Vet requesting further explanation:

According to our records, the last litter registered whelped out of Simaxdal Amberre was born on 14/10/2019
An application has now been received for the registration of a litter born on 08/03/2020 where, according to Mrs Brown, the first 1 st mating took place on 06/01/2020 and the 2nd mating on 07/01/2020
This means that this dam came on heat one week short of three months from the date of birth of the previous litter whelped and that she was mated approximately 6 weeks after having weaned the previous litter.
Vet response attached to agenda.
Carried forward. DNA parentage verification to be submitted
Concern was expressed at the high number of similar applications received for other litters from the same Breeder, bringing into question the accuracy of records kept and record keeping practices.
Exco directed that going forward, all further litter registration applications submitted by the Member must be accompanied by DNA parentage verification Certificates for the entire litter.
A letter was emailed to Mrs Brown informing her of the Exco directive and informing her that DNA parentage verification would be required for this specific litter. Attached please find the response received from Mrs Brown.
Not approved. It was unanimously decided that DNA parentage verification must be provided in order to accept the registration of this litter.
Mrs Brown was informed of the decision made by the Executive Committee. The KUSA Office then received correspondence that the dam of the litter is deceased and therefore DNA parentage verification would not be possible. Attached please find a Sworn Affidavit received from Mrs P Tait who the dam was rehomed to. A Vet report was requested by the KUSA Office, but a reply was received that this was not possible.
Not approved. Definitive proof by means of a Vet Report or any other means is required to confirm that the Dam is deceased. This can be obttained telephonically and via email.

10.1 GENERAL
10.1.1 CP enquired as to why Clubs are listed as being Gauteng-based as opposed to indicating to which Provincial Council they are aligned to on the website. NAPC receive numerous enquiries from Clubs that belong to DOGSPC.
PM advised that this is due to a limitation of the current admin system. Provision for such classification will be available on the new online system.
10.1.2 CP reported that a KZN-based Field Trial Club intended to apply for a License for a Show to be hosted in another Province, which is contrary to Schedule 3 regulations. NS advised that an application had not as yet been received.
