TO

THE ARTICLES AND SCHEDULES OF THE CONSTITUTION

The additions and amendments to the Articles and Schedules listed below were agreed to by the Federal Council and will become effective on 01 January 2015 (01.01.2015).

Clubs are reminded that in terms of Article 40 of the Constitution, Affiliated Clubs have the right to object to any proposed amendment or part thereof to the Articles but this does not extend to the Schedules which are governed by Article 41 of the Constitution.

 SCHEDULE 1 – DISCIPLINARY RULES

Notice is hereby given in terms of Article 41 of The Kennel Union Constitution that the above named revised Schedule will become effective on 1.1.2015 and copies will be circulated to all Provincial Councils and Affiliated Clubs as timeously as possible. They will also be placed on the KUSA Website and may be downloaded for gratis or hardcopies will be available to members at a price to be determined.

SCHEDULE 3 – REGULATIONS FOR CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWS

Regulation 5 – Show Schedules

Amend to read:

5.8.5 whether or not bitches in season are admitted for exhibition or competition

SCHEDULE 4 – REGULATIONS FOR NON CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWS

Regulation 15 – Appointment and Approval of Judges

Amend to read:

15.5 Unless dispensation is granted by Exco, at a Non-Championship Show, clubs must select a judge with a minimum qualification of three groups at Level 4 to officiate at the Best in Show and Best Puppy in Show challenges. Should there be no suitably qualified Learner Judge on the panel, the club would need to appoint a suitably qualified Judge specifically for the Best in Show and Best Puppy in Show challenges. In the dispensation areas, Eastern Cape and Free State, the minimum qualification for a BIS and/or BPIS judge may be a licensed judge for a minimum of one group.

SCHEDULE 5L – REGULATIONS FOR AGILITY CLASSES

Regulation 3.9 – Competing Dogs

Amend to read:

3.9.1     All dogs are eligible to enter an Agility competition unless they are:

3.9.1.1 Pregnant bitches

3.9.1.2 VOID

3.9.1.3 Apparently ill or hurt.

3.9.1.4 Doped dogs

3.9.2     Dogs coming from or going to a region infected with rabies must have a valid inoculation certificate against rabies which shall be produced to the Judge or Agility Show Manager. Any dog not possessing such a certificate shall be ineligible to compete.

3.9.3     Bitches in season may compete at the discretion of show holding club, and such permission must be published in the Show Schedule and the Catalogue:

3.9.3.1  Their condition must be declared to the Judge at the commencement of the show

3.9.3.2  The handler must provide a mat for the bitch at the start line

3.3.9.3  The bitch must run last in its entered class

SCHEDULE 5L – APPENDIX C – REGULATIONS FOR THE SELECTION OF SOUTH AFRICAN DOGS TO COMPETE AT THE AGILITY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Regulation 2 – Administration

Regulation 4.1 – Eligibility

Amend to read:

4.1.1     Dogs must be in Agility 2 with a qualification before the start of the South African Trials to be eligible to compete in the South African Trials.

4.1.2     The AWC committee will publish a Show Schedule for the SA Trials by the 31st January each year.

4.1.4   Handlers may enter the South African Trials, by completing and submitting an official KUSA entry form, payment of the entry fee as determined by the AWC committee and payment of the deposit as determined by the AWC committee. The closing date for entry into the SA Trials will be 31st March

Regulation 4.3 – Format

Amend to read:

4.3.1     The Trials will consist of 5 rounds, 3 of which will be Contact Agility. All dogs will jump the same course, with the obstacles set at the heights prescribed for that Category.

4.3.4     After the conclusion of the Trials tables will be compiled to determine the dogs eligible for the South African team.

Regulation 5 Management of South African Team Affairs for the World Championships

Amend to read:

5.4       Handlers who have qualified for the South African team must confirm their availability before the announcement of the South African Team. All entrants to the SA Trials need written proof that all the necessary travel and veterinary or other documents required for handler and dog are in order and current. Any withdrawal subsequent to the announcement of the team will be subject to a cancellation fee, which will be pre-determined by the AWC Committee.

SCHEDULE 10 – REGULATIONS FOR BREED AND JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP JUDGES

Regulation 5.1.6

Amend to read:

Between Best in Show/Best Puppy in Show at All-breeds Shows in any Province*:

a period of 6 months must pass between judging Best in Show/Best Puppy in Show at All-breeds Championship Shows; a period of 3 months must pass between judging Best in Show/Best Puppy in Show at All-breeds Qualifying Shows; and a period of 3 months must pass between judging Best in Show/Best Puppy in Show at All-breeds Non-Championship Shows, in any province.*

SCHEDULE 10 – APPENDIX 1 – KUSA BREED JUDGES LEARNING PROGRAMME

Regulations 2.4 – Evaluations

Once a Judge has completed the required evaluations on a particular group, they have four consecutive exam opportunities from the date they have completed the final evaluations. During this period they may continue judging for hands-on experience, without evaluations. If the exam is not written within the required time, then no further judging will be approved for that Group. The same applies should a judge be unsuccessful in passing the Part 2 exam.

Regulation 2.9 – Examinations

 BREED STANDARDS

The amendments to the Breed Standards listed below were agreed to by the Federal Council Members at its meeting held on 28/29 June 2014 and will become effective 01 January 2015 (01.01.2015), unless otherwise stated.

Bearded Collie

Amend to read:

Colour: Slate grey, reddish-fawn, black, blue, all shades of grey, brown and sandy with or without white markings. Never merle/dapple. When white occurs it appears on foreface, as a blaze on skull, on tip of tail, on chest, legs and feet and, if round the collar, roots of white hair should not extend behind shoulder. White should not appear above hocks on outside of hindlegs. Slight tan markings are acceptable on eyebrows, inside ears, on cheeks, under root of tail and on legs where white joins main colour.

TERRIER GROUP

     Airdale Terrier

     Amend to read:

Eyes

Dark in colour, relatively small, not prominent, full of terrier expression, keenness and intelligence. Light or bold eye highly undesirable.

Tail

Previously customarily docked.

Docked: Set on high and carried gaily, not curled over back. Good strength and substance. Tip approximately at the same height as top of skull.

Undocked: Set on high and carried gaily. Good strength and substance.

Australian Terrier

TOY GROUP

Chihuahua

Amend to read:

Colour

Any colour or mixture of colours but never merle/dapple.

Size

Weight: up to 2.7 kgs (6 lbs), with 1.8 kgs to 2.7 kgs (4-6lbs) preferred.

Pug

Amend to read:

General Appearance:

Decidedly square and cobby, it is ‘multum in parvo’ shown in compactness of form, well-knit proportions and hardness of muscle, but never to appear low on legs, nor lean and leggy.

Head and Skull:

Head relatively large and in proportion to body, round, not apple-headed, with no indentation of skull. Muzzle relatively short, blunt, square, not upfaced. Nose black, fairly large with well open nostrils.Wrinkles on forehead clearly defined without exaggeration. Eyes or nose never adversely affected or obscured by over nose wrinkle. Pinched nostrils and heavy over nose wrinkle is unacceptable and should be heavily penalised.

Eyes:

Dark, relatively large, round in shape, soft and solicitous in expression, very lustrous and when excited, full of fire. Never protruding, exaggerated or showing white when looking straight ahead. Free from obvious eye problems.

Mouth:

Slightly undershot. Wide lower jaw with incisors almost in a straight line.

Wry mouths, teeth or tongue showing all highly undesirable and should be heavily penalised.

Body:

Short and cobby, broad in chest.Ribs well sprung and carried well back.Topline level, neither roached nor dipping.

Tail:

High-set, tightly curled over hip. Double curl highly desirable.

Gait/Movement:

Viewed from in front should rise and fall with legs well under shoulder, feet keeping directly to front, not turning in or out. From behind action just as true. Using forelegs strongly putting them well forward with hindlegs moving freely and using stifles well. A slight unexaggerated roll of hindquarters typifies gait. Capable of purposeful and steady movement.

Coat:

Fine, smooth, soft, short and glossy, neither harsh, off-standing nor woolly.

Size:

Ideal weight:    6.3-8.1 kgs (14-18 lbs). Should be hard of muscle but substance must not be confused with overweight.

Faults:

Any departure from the foregoing points should be considered a fault and the seriousness with which the fault should be regarded should be in exact proportion to its degree and its effect upon the health and welfare of the dog.
