Notice to Club Secretaries and Judges

Weighing of Miniature Dachshunds at  Championship Shows

There is no obligation whatsoever on KUSA-affiliated clubs holding Championship Shows with classes for Dachshunds to publicise on their Show Schedules, or anywhere else, whether their judge will be weighing Miniature Dachshunds in the course of his/her judging. Club Secretaries are also not expected to request a judge to provide such information. Reflecting information about weighing on the Show Schedule is entirely at the discretion of the showholding club.

It goes without saying that there is no obligation on a judge to state in advance of his/her judging whether he/she would be weighing Miniatures at a show where he/she would be officiating. Judges are entitled to decide whether to use the scales on the day and scales should be available for their use.

Judges are aware that, in terms of the breed standard, it is not a disqualifying fault if a Miniature Dachshund exceeds the desired maximum weight of 5 kgs and that such fault should to be treated like any other “in exact proportion to its degree and its effect on the health and welfare of the dog”.
