ADDITIONS AND AMENDMENTS    

TO
THE ARTICLES AND SCHEDULES OF THE CONSTITUTION

The additions and amendments to the Articles and Schedules listed below were agreed to by the Federal Council. The Schedules will become effective on 01 September 2013 (01.09.2013), unless otherwise stated. The Articles will become effective 01 February 2014 (01.02.2014).

Clubs are reminded that in terms of Article 40 of the Constitution, Affiliated Clubs have the right to object to any proposed amendment or part thereof to the Articles, but this does not extend to the Schedules which are governed by Article 41 of the Constitution.

AMENDMENTS TO THE ARTICLES
(Approved at Fedco 12-12)

ARTICLE 2 – INTERPRETATIONS OF TERMS
Specialist Disciplines Club
Specialist Disciplines Club  means a club, the objects of which is to promote a specific working discipline or specific working disciplines recognised by KUSA, which does not generate income from training and holds shows relating to these working disciplines in terms of this Constitution.

ARTICLE 10 – MEMBERSHIP
Article 10.3
Amend to read
The Executive Committee may refuse to elect any applicant and refund any subscription fee tendered. Any application received from any person who has been expelled from membership or who has been convicted in a Court of Law for an offence described in Schedule 1 Rule 2.4 or Schedule 9 Code of Ethics, will be rejected automatically.

SCHEDULE 3 – REGULATIONS FOR CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWS
Appendix 1 – Definition of classes
Amend to read:
WORKING DOG CLASS      For dogs with any of the following minimum qualifications:
(WD)            Class “A” in Obedience, CD, IPOI in Working Trials, BWT, or TT2/ITT2

Schedule 5C – REGULATIONS FOR RETRIEVER FIELD TRIALS
Notice is hereby given in terms of Article 41 of The Kennel Union Constitution that the above named revised Schedule will become effective on 1.1.2014 and will be placed on the KUSA Website and may be downloaded for gratis or hardcopies will be available to members at a price to be determined.

SCHEDULE 5L – REGULATIONS FOR AGILITY CLASSES
Regulation 3.3.3 Courses – sub regulation 3.3.3.3
Amend to read:
3.3.3.3 All height categories will jump the same course, with the obstacles set at the heights prescribed for that Category. The course speeds will be 3.5m/s for Contact Agility and 4.0m/s for Non-Contact Agility.

As various amendments become effective the documents displayed on the KUSA website will be altered
accordingly.  These documents may be downloaded for free.

BREED STANDARDS

The amendments to the Breed Standards listed below were agreed by the Federal Council Members at its meeting held on 10/11 May 2013 and will become effective 01.09.2013, unless otherwise stated.

HERDING GROUP
Collie (Rough)
Amend to read:
Temperament
Friendly disposition with no trace of nervousness or aggressiveness. A great companion dog, friendly, happy and active, good with children and other dogs.

HOUND GROUP
Dachshund
Amend to read:

Miniatures
Ideal weight 4.5kg (10lb). Desired maximum weight 5kg (11lbs). It is of the utmost importance that judges should not award prizes to animals over 5kg (11lbs). Exhibits which appear thin and undernourished should be severely penalised.

(Note: The Federal Council agreed that the current KUSA Breed Standard, with the inclusion of the weighing imperative clause, should be accepted for a period of three years during which time the Miniature Dachshund fraternity should consult with their constituents and decide whether to retain the standard under moratorium or to adopt the new Kennel Club Breed Standard)

Saluki
Amend to read:
Characteristics
Great variation in type due to the wide geographical area of origin. There are both feathered and smooth varieties. The expression should be dignified and gentle with faithful far-seeing eyes. Light flowing movement.

Body
Back fairly broad, muscles slightly arched over loin, but never roached backed. Brisket long and deep, not barrel-ribbed or slab-sided, with good cut up. Sufficient length of loin important.

GUNDOG GROUP
Spaniel (Field)
Amend to read:
Colour
Black, black and tan, blue roan, blue roan and tan, liver, liver and tan, liver roan, liver roan and tan.
In self coloured dogs, white or roan on chest is permissible. Clear black and white, liver and white, orange, red or golden unacceptable.

UTILITY GROUP
Chow Chow
The Federal Council agreed that the current KUSA Breed Standard (pre May 2011) remains in place and the moratorium is to be retained until May 2014.

Poodle
Amend to read:
Coat
Very profuse and dense of good harsh texture. All short hair close, thick and curly. All traditional trims permissible in the show ring and the dogs judged on equal merit, as long as there is sufficient length to demonstrate colour and quality of coat.

Pug
Amend to read:
Ears
Thin, small soft like black velvet.
Two kinds – ‘Button ear’ – ear flap folding forward, tip lying close to skull to cover opening. ‘Rose ear’ – small drop ear which folds over and back to reveal the burr.
